Mackenzie is a passionate historian who hopes to make the past come alive for her students. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in History from California State University, Long Beach in 2022 and is currently pursuing her Master’s in History, specializing in American and Modern European history. She was named the Distinguished Graduate of the 2022 graduating class for her leadership, character, and dedication in the history department. Her research on the civil rights movement has earned awards, and has also contributed to a historical museum exhibit on political history.
With five years of tutoring experience, Mackenzie has guided countless students to scoring 5’s on their AP History and AP US Government exams. She knows history isn’t everyone’s favorite subject, so she’s developed strategies and writing formulas to make it accessible to all. She often incorporates multiple forms of media - such as photos, audio, and written primary sources - to immerse students in the time period they are learning about. Mackenzie’s passion for history is evident in her tutoring sessions, as she loves to share fascinating facts or connections with her students.
When she’s not helping students master their DBQs, you can find Mackenzie curled up with a good book or perfecting a new cookie recipe.
