Charlie graduated from the University of Iowa in 2019 with a Bachelor’s in English Literature, with an emphasis on the American short story and Irish Modernism.
After completing his undergraduate degree, Charlie came back home to Southern California, working as a substitute teacher in Capistrano Unified School District. In the Fall of 2022, Charlie ventured outside of California again, this time to Canterbury, UK to further study literature at the University of Kent. There, he received a Master’s degree in American Literature and Culture. The research conducted in England and his current research projects are centered on structures of power, intellectual history, and postmodern theory.
Coming home from abroad, Charlie tutored English, writing, history, and philosophy at Saddleback Community College in Mission Viejo, where he built lasting connections with students using hands-on and Socratic methods of teaching. Far and away, his favorite aspect of teaching are the relationships that develop from shared curiosities and interests about the world.
Outside of work, Charlie can be found running on trails, reading, at the movies, or on the baseball diamond.
