Jacob graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a B.S. in Biological Sciences, specializing in Human Biology. Drawn to science as a way to understand how the world works, Jacob discovered his passion for education and mentorship during his studies at UCI. Serving as a Certified Learning Assistant for a variety of biology courses, he provided unique approaches to aid the learning experience for hundreds of students by working closely with instructors and incorporating student feedback. Beyond the classroom, Jacob also worked as a Peer Academic Advisor and counseled fellow students with navigating the undergraduate experience.
Armed with his science background and pedagogical training, Jacob went on to originate, design, and teach a seminar course on superhero physiology to his fellow undergraduate students of all majors and class years through the UTeach program at UCI. Working with a diverse blend of students, he emphasized an environment supportive of student self-confidence in tackling difficult problems in different ways. Through this experience, Jacob gained an appreciation for having students try tackling problems from unique perspectives and working closely with students to foster their learning.
In his free time, Jacob enjoys spending time with family and friends, and you can often find him swimming or building LEGOs.
