Zach A.

Math/Science

Zachary graduated Summa Cum Laude from Cal Poly Pomona with a B.S. in Computer Science. Originally planning on working in the corporate world as a software engineer after interning at JPL during undergraduate studies and working as a programmer after graduation, he discovered a passion for teaching after leading study groups during his final semesters and tutoring at a learning center while working full-time. He then decided to pivot towards education and is pursuing an M.S. in Computer Science and a teaching credential in Mathematics from Cal State Fullerton.

Armed with three years of experience in the corporate world and a multitude of math classes
he had to take for his degree, Zachary is ready to tutor anyone in computer science, algebra, or
calculus. He loves to make learning engaging by connecting abstract concepts to everyday
actions or objects, a teaching style he developed when tutoring elementary and middle school
students. He approaches teaching by giving examples and asking students questions to guide
their way through the problem, helping them work towards the answer on their own. He
emphasizes the mantra of “no dumb questions,” encouraging all students to feel like they can
ask anything, no matter how basic they might feel the question is.

In his free time, Zachary enjoys video games (both playing and designing them), researching the history of different languages, and practicing Krav Maga.
